the blooming bud interview
In our ongoing feature, spotlighting little Blooming Buds and their views on the world, we are speaking this week with Miranda, 16.
BB: If you could talk to flowers what you say to them?
G: I would probably just ask them what it feels like to be a flower and what kind of challenges face them. Do they feel left out because they can't move.
BB: If your mother was a teenager just your age, what would you want to do with her?
G: Definitely go bike riding.
BB: What is the most important thing your older brothers and sisters have taught you?
G: Probably that our problems can and need to be solved. Don't run away from them.
BB: How would you want to change the world?
G: Probably by changing some of the laws—pretty much making only one law. Love thy neighbor as thyself.
BB: What qualities do you want your future husband to possess?
G: Patience, not super patient; loyal; strong in faith; artistic in some kind of way—musically, painting, acting, something like that; hard working and responsible.
BB: What do you want to be when you grow up?
G: I definitely want to go to college and going into college I have many choices. I want to either do art, biology (working with big cats, wolves, hyenas or draft horses, or doing music.
BB: If you could give new high-schoolers a piece of advice, what would it be? That you wish you had known when you started?
G: Join the Mormon church! No, seriously, probably that what other people think of you isn't the most important thing; that what you think of yourself is the most important thing.
BB: What is your favorite color?
G: Red (Stated emphatically and without hesitation!)
BB: If you could have any pet in the world, what would you have?
G: Does it have to be real? (NO.) I have 4 dream pets: tiger, wolf, shire draft horse, red dragon.
BB: What would you name them?
G: Tiger would be Tora because in Japanese that means tiger. The wolf would probably Lupen. The draft horse would be Owen, but I have a bunch of names for them. The red dragon would be Gragorix. That's a name my dad and I came up with for a book I'm writing.
BB: What is the best thing about being a 16-year old girl?
G: Probably being a leader by nature; and being able to go on group dates. I'm the one that goes out and plans all the group dates for youth groups at church and gets people who are so shy to come out and do fun stuff with others.
BB: What is the worst thing?
G: Probably it's being in high school. The age range that is in high school. I'm probably more mature than most girls at my school and know that having a boyfriend is not the best idea that young.
